Emily Karechio - Founder and President
Emily is a highly dynamic and multifaceted Project Management Professional, Master Trainer, Mentor and the Founder of Muthaa Community Development Foundation, an organization that partners with both the private and public sector. Through the organization she manages Corporate Social Responsibility activities for different corporates with clientele such as L’Oreal East Africa and consultancy services. She has also managed a number of successful programmes including Training and Advocacy in partnership with Government and other stakeholders.
Emily has been recognized for her work; in 2015 she was a CFC Stanbic Rising Star Finalist and 2014 Cordes Fellow. Through her Leadership the organization was awarded three Millennium Development Goal (MDG) awards in 2013.
She has received numerous recognitions due to her tremendous work including being selected as an Action Partner of Oxfam International Youth Partnerships in 2007, the National Focal Point of Global Youth Coalition on HIV/ AIDS in 2007 and the National Coordinator of the Universal Access for Female Condom in Kenya among others.
She is currently pursuing her MBA at Strathmore Business School and is a graduate in Development Studies and Law.
Her interests are in entrepreneurship and innovative technology for social and economic impact in Kenya and Africa.
Martha Wanjiku - Finance and Administration Manager
Martha is passionate about accounts and management.
She has pursed CPA at Vision Institute, Financial Management for NGO’s & Budget at Mango and has a Diploma in Business Administration & Management from Technical Institute of Kenya.
Before joining MCDF as the Finance & Administration Officer, Martha was working at Blue Range Automation as the Manger and Head of Accounts. She was providing management, control and administration of all fiscal operations.
At MCDF, Martha works as the Finance & Administration Manager and is in charge of strengthening and aligning central administrative and financial functions of the Organization.
She has love for numbers, being analytical and detail oriented with her work.
Esther Ngure - Health Programs Officer
Esther brings diverse professional experience in consulting and development.
Prior to joining MCDF as Program Officer, Esther worked in the Dala rieko, a Kenyan local NGO, which deals with women empowerment. During her time at Dala Rieko, Esther helped develop strategies that would help women become economically independent.
Esther started her career at Rarieda CBO, where she coordinated the organization activities while mobilizing the community members to engage on socially and economically empowering projects.
At MCDF, Esther works as a program officer in charge of training and consultancy. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in counseling psychology at Kenyatta University, a degree in development studies from Makerere University (Uganda) and a higher diploma in project management from Kenya institute of Professional Studies.
She is passionate about mentorship and empowerment while she hopes to positively impact her community through her work.
Winnie Chelagat - Communication Officer
Winnie is the Communication’s Officer at MCDF and leads the CSR Program. She holds a Degree in Information Sciences from Moi University. She is very passionate about Education and Youth Empowerment. She enjoys community work and finds coming up with lasting solutions to grassroots problems very fulfilling.
Her hobbies include Music, travelling and Reading.
Charles Nderitu - Programs Officer
Charles has vast experience in community work and theater work.
Before joining MCDF as Program Officer, Charles worked in Kenya Red Cross, Thika as a blood donor officer. He was in charge of organizing blood drives and mobilizations within the region. He also worked with Partners in Prevention, a Local NGO that dealt with discordant couples in central province.
His career started at Unique World Viewers CBO, where he coordinated the organization activities and training the youths on how to pass messages through the use of Theater to the community.
At MCDF, Charles works as a program officer at Mariakani, Coast Region. He is currently pursuing his degree in Development studies at Zetech University, and holds a diploma in project managements from Kenya Institute of Management.
He is passionate about youth empowerment and talent exploitation.
Lucy Muthuita - Communications Officer
Lucy brings Strategic Communication experience in the Communication Department.
She is currently pursuing her Degree in Development Communication and Public Relations at St Paul’s University Kenya, has a Diploma in Public Relations from Kenya Institute of Management.
Before Joining MCDF as the Communications Officer, Lucy worked at Medequip Kenya as the Personal Assistant. She was in charge of addressing to customer queries, complaints and prepared customer quotations and reports.
At MCDF, Lucy works as the Communications Officer. She is in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The program supports corporate in identifying unique activities, handling of logistics, organizing for public relations medium and developing a detailed program for the CSR initiatives.
She is passionate about empowerment and believes that Communication can be innovative.
